Should A Dermatologist/ Esthetician Experience Acne?

ACNE. A topic about acne has always been an issue somewhere as a matter of fact. As an esthetician, I’ve always found that people hold dermatologists and estheticians to a such a higher standard, which is sort of fair but also unfair as well. I understand why someone would want their dermatologists and estheticians to have nice skin. It’s their job. They promise of improving someone’s skin condition with their high skills, experience or knowledge. However, we’re not exceptional when it comes to normal or severe medical skin conditions. ⠀

FACT 1 (About Acne)

Everyone on this planet will get acne at some point in their life. It’s part of a normal functioning skin barrier, but acne and a pimple aren’t the same thing. Pimples are a symptom of acne, but acne are what I like to call “cluster breakouts” and pimples are singular. ⠀

Estheticians are also not exceptional when it comes to aging. Most of us have access to cosmetic treatments like microneedling, lasers, peels, etc that can all keep our skin looking really well. We also have access to botox and fillers which will also help us age gracefully. However, we still age, but it will mostly be at a graceful rate. Find it out here on CARLY SKINCARE.

FACT 3

We’re not exceptional when it comes to discoloration. If we get an acne, we may have post-inflammatory erythema left over from that mark OR post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Women are also more prone to melasma because of pregnancies. Again, not exempt from melasma.

FACT 4

We’re not exempt from medical skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, or contact dermatitis. All these things can happen (and likely have happened) to your estheticians and dermatologists.

⠀The only difference is that we have an easier access to things that will help and improve the situation faster.
