Furthermore, our body are warmed up when it’s a bit cold.

But do you know that this UVB rays that help with the formation of vitamin D is the same type that causes our skin to burn?

When you spend more time in the sun without protection, premature skin aging can occur. Much more, your skin will start to wrinkle and your immune system weakens.

Why too much sun is bad

When it comes to premature skin aging, It is one of the very things that makes life possible that becomes our worse enemy, the sun. If only we could see the harm the sun’s harmful rays do to our skin, there’s no doubt we’ll do all we can to protect ourselves from it.

The sun’s harmful rays are made up of these ultraviolet lights called UVA & UVB. Exposure to these two can alter the structural and chemical properties of our skin, which can cause damage to DNA. Furthermore, sunburn, skin discoloration, and formation of skin cancer can occur. Excessive exposure to the sun can also promote skin aging as said above and cause the underlying structure of our skin to suffer connective tissue damage. Wrinkling and sagging of the skin will occur as the skin loses its elasticity due to excessive exposure to the sun. None of us will want that. But, is there any safe way we can protect ourselves from these harmful rays from the sun?

The best way to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays is to shield your skin from the sun, especially between the hours of 10 am & 4 pm when the sun’s rays are strong.

Wear Sunscreen Everyday

Wear sunscreen everyday, yes, and even on days you don’t see the sun appearing. We have sunscreens for every skin type. For dry skin, combination, oily, normal, and sensitive skin. Be sure your SPF (sun protection factor) is the last thing you put on before your makeup, then give it little time for it to absorb. Do not forget to have it in your bag on your way out. While in the sun, you may want to reapply after you sweat, or in case you went out for swimming, when you get out of the pool too. Remember, the sun’s rays are more damaging between the the hours of 10 and 4 pm, so you ‘ll have to limit your stay out there.

Sunscreens for your skin type

Dry and sensitive Skin:

You might wonder what sunscreen will be best to suit your skin type. Look for a cream or a lotion that’s hydrating or has a moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, lanolin, aloe, oils, with an active ingredient as zinc oxide or titanium oxide. These ingredients are kinder on people with dry and sensitive skin than those of chemical formulas. Avoid alcohol, fragrances, and preservative based sunscreens.

Combination and Oily Skin:

If you have oily or combination skin, look for sunscreens that are light weight. These usually come in gels or fluids. It should be oil-free and non-comedogenic.

Normal Skin:

If your skin isn’t too oily, isn’t too dry, It will be able to tolerate any type of sunscreen formulas available, either gel, cream, lotion or powder. Look for the one that feels good on your skin and the one that feels easy to apply. Depending on the type of activity you may be engaging in it out there will determine the number of times you’ll need to apply.
