Clay mask has been very popular for many purposes throughout history such as: good for cleansing, for its ability to heal and its soothing effects.

Firstly, coming from the soil, clay – in the form of powder or pebbles – is rich in minerals and they work well with acne-prone, congested or dull skin.

Secondly, in dry powder or mixed with water, it is generally recommended for our homemade face care, body and hair care. However, are you aware that there are different types of clays that can be distinguished by their color (white, green, pink, yellow, etc.) and by their respective benefits? So which one are we choosing and for which need?

PURE WHITE CLAY

Less concentrated in iron oxide than the other types of clay, white clay – of which Kaolin is the most widespread – is one of the purest and softest clays available. It absorbs, purifies, detoxifies, softens and repairs the skin. Rich in silica, tones, demineralizes and stimulates the outer layer of the skin. Moreover, it is universal and, in this sense, suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. They are mainly used as talc or as poultice on the face and body. Additionally, benefits the health and beauty of the hair and can even be used as a dry shampoo.

GREEN CLAY

Just like the white clay, green clays are also very useful and important as well to the skin and hair.

They are popular in the beauty sphere. Richer in minerals than white clay, they’re more absorbent, in other words, helps retain toxins and impurities. Thus, ideal for normal to oily skin and acts on acne and other imperfections. It helps reduce excess sebum from the skin and scalp. Our oily hair says thank you. Finally (and not least), when applied to the skin, it relieves superficial burns.

RED CLAY

Red Clays are very rich in potassium and iron oxide and has the same benefits as the two previous ones. The only difference is its anti-aging &  revitalizing properties, thus reviving dull complexions and helps smoothens skin.  Moreover, a healthy glow effect is guaranteed.  These red clays also ensure to soothe redness.

DETOXYFYING PINK CLAY

Glowing skin is a result of proper skincare

This comes as a combination of red and white clay. Pink clay can be applied to the face like the others mentioned. In addition, its detoxifying properties allow it to absorb sebum, mattify the skin and cleanse it of impurities. Finally, it purifies and gives a healthy glow like red clay while being as soft as white clay, therefore ideal for sensitive and dry skin.
