Before coming into the skincare industry, I never knew I was born with a combination skin type. I used to have oils and breakouts on my forehead, around my nose and chin area. But the other sides of my face were completely normal with no blemishes. I had to keep searching and trying different types of cleansers on the market for my face. I tried any cleanser and moisturizer I found out there thinking it would work out well for me. So i ended up using skincare products with alcohol that dried out my skin, leaving it irritated and flaking.
The issue is I didn’t know my skin type and the right skincare product for my skin.

It’s so overwhelming when it comes to choosing skincare products made specifically for your skin type. But if you know what you’re going for, you’ll always get a blemish free, healthy and young looking skin.

Below are the different types of cleansers available for specific skin types.

CREAM CLEANSERS.

This type of cleanser is ideal for people with dry and sensitive skin.

Cream cleansers are usually thick with creamy look which contains ingredients that are very rich in botanical oils to nourish the skin while cleansing.
So what these cream cleansers do is, they gently nourish the skin when you rub it. They don’t strip off the skin’s natural oils. They are available in lotions and milk form.

GEL CLEANSERS:

We have some cleansers that also come in a form of gel. Which is ideal for people with oily and combination skin. They’re gel-like and designed for deep cleansing. They deep cleanse to unclog pores or work on congested pores, which removes excess oils, dirt and kill bacteria that cause acne because of its antiseptic properties.

CLAY CLEANSERS:

This type of cleanser can remove dead surface cells, toxins and impurities, control sebum production and increase the firmness of the skin. This is suitable for people with oily and combination skin.

CLEANSING BALMS:

Cleansing balms come in the form of wax but melt into oils. Even though this is a type of cleanser, they’re usually followed by washing your face with other type of nourishing cleanser. This type of cleanser is ideal for people with dry and sensitive skin.

OIL CLEANSERS:

According to skincare experts, some oil cleansers are good for all skin types. Even though you might begin to think that, what if they clog pores? Nope! They don’t. They’re gentle cleansers that remove pore-clogging debris, which includes waterproof makeup without drying out your skin.

FOAM CLEANSERS:

These types of cleansers are not too foamy but lightweight cleansers that start out as gel and cream but burst into some rich foamy lather, which of course will not strip off your skin’s natural oils. This effectively remove excess oil on the skin. Ideal for oily and combination skin type.

CLEANSING CLOTHS, MITTS, AND SPONGES.

These come in the form of wipes, cloths, and sponges. Some of them are plant-based and do not require any use of traditional cleansers, which thoroughly removes dead skin cells while clearing it off.
An example is the muslin cloth, conjac sponges, and facial wipes.
