BENEFITS OF EXFOLIATION
- When you regularly exfoliate, top layer of the dead skin cells are removed. This allows moisturizers, antioxidants and collagen boosters to absorb into the skin better.
- Exfoliating helps unclog pores, and allow the release of the natural oils produced by the skin.
- Further, it minimizes the appearance of large pores and scars.

7 RULES OF EXFOLIATION
1. Start Slow
If you’re using a physical exfoliant, starting once a week will be great or a lower concentration of chemical exfoliant. Moreover, work your way up to see what your skin can tolerate. If it’s good with your skin, two or 3 times a week will be suitable.
2. You need to beware If you’re pregnant:
First, consult your health care provider before trying to incorporate any acid into your skincare routine. Some acids such as salicylic acid can be harmful to you.
3. How is your skin’s comfort level?
What is your skin’s tolerance level? AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are considered to be better choice for people with dry skin. They exfoliate the surfaced dead skin cells and also help improve moisture content.
4. Make sure you do a patch test
Some products can really be irritating, so before you use it on the softer part of your skin, test. Start by applying a small amount on the inside of your arm and then on your forehead for few minutes to see how your skin will respond.
5. Don’t over exfoliate
Gently exfoliate. Do not do it harshly and hard. If after exfoliation your skin feels red and sensitive to touch, it means you’ve over-overdone it. Give your skin some time to heal. Few days will be good.
6. Daily use of sunscreen
There are some acids that can leave the skin a little sensitive to the sun, so It will be very advisable to use sunscreens everyday. It’s very important to use it when you’re exfoliating.
7. See your doctor
It is quite common for people to experience mild redness and sometimes peeling of the skin when it’s their first time using AHAs /BHAs ( Beta Hydroxy Acids) in their skincare regimen. See your doctor when such redness and irritation persists.
